how to keep screws crayons and coins out of your washing machine
By fyxer
A washing machine has become a part of our everyday lives and is as important as the other kitchen and laundry appliances that we use daily,
we cook breakfast lunch and dinner on our stoves daily, and even though most of us do not wash every day some people do,a washing machine can break in many different forms, but apart from a broken belt or a burnt out timer and other normal wear and tear, there is a lot of problems that are caused by the customer.
The most popular is coins and other objects left in pockets, screws, crayons, pens, pencils, paper clips, nail files, and nails are a few of the more popular things that i remove from drain pumps on a weekly basis.
Most new washing machines have an electric drain pump, these pumps are easy to burn out when they get stuck with a coin or nails, either they burn up or the plastic impeller is broken off, either way the pump will have to be changed, these pumps can cost from $40 to $140 depending on your make and model and that does not include labour.
The best way to search pockets is to turn the the pants inside out, some garments also last longer if they are washed this way.

Thanks for the suggestion. I would like it more if I didn't have to put the clothes away after I wash them. Oh well it is better to be safe than sorry.
yes i find a few of those also they can do quite some damage laringo--have a bless day
thats true jim 10 better safe that sorry it will cost you also--thanks for stoping by
Do you know how I can get something out of the washer that got lost in there?
whatever you lost in the machine usually find its way into the pump area, hope it is a machine that have a trap before the pump,if it is a whirlpool duet you can open the lint filter cap and look for it inside.
I think it is a design flaw that allows metal objects into a pump. There should be a removable screen-filter to catch objects like that so they don't get into the pump? What say Maytag???

Good tips that everyone should follow. Those plastice dental picks caused a problem in our washing machine. If it had not been for an extended warranty, we would have paid quite alot for the service call.
