henry morgan was born 1635 in wales. he traveled to jamaica in 1655 with the english army who seized the island from the spanish--morgan became a captain soon after and he organised raids along the south american coast authorised by the english governor.

morgan became very popular and well respected leader of the buccaneers.

in 1667 the government comissioned morgan and his men to investigate rumour of a spanish invasion of the island of jamaica.

morgan attack the spanish hold of puerto principe in cuba, porto bello in panama and maracaibo in venezuela

after each of these sucessful raids, morgan and his men return to port royal jamaica with gold jewelry guns and merchant goods.

I like his rum. Are you from Jamaica? I love Jamaica, and I've never been there, but I know a lot of Jamaicans. I want to move there someday.
