better dryer design

in previous hubs i discuss the older,stronger,more durable appliances,compared to the new appliances,

another thing i look at is how they are built,some are built in a way that make them hard to repair,hidden screws under pop off panelling and so on,

if the appliance is hard to work on that will not make it a favourite in the eyes of the repair person,sometimes it is something really small,for instance on the older general electric dryer,there is a little window close to the bottom of the dryer,the service man can open this window to observe what the dryer is doing, for example is the ignitor glowing,is it glowing and cutting off,is the flame coming on,is the ignitor glowing constantly---these observations are very important in diagnosing the gas dryer--these observations can be done on the older dryers without taking them apart--in most cases the repair can also be done from that little window.

on some models like maytag and whirlpool they don't have a window big enough to do any repairs ,they just have a little hole that the service man can look through with one eye to see what is going on inside.
