I love michael jackson but to compare him with bob marley i don't even think that is a fair fight,they are both leaders and pioneers in their music but in order to really understand the scope of these two men and how they differ we have to looking back and start from the beginning.
Michael Jackson was poor but he was lucky to be born in the united states,that is a big plus he has a 99% chance of success at whatever he decide to do in life,then you add talent to that and you have a superstar.
Bob Marley on the other hand had to survive the ghetto in jamaica first,thats like diging out of the ground with your bare hands to get on the ground.
Then knocking on many doors and being rejected over and over before you can get a break to show you talent.
On the personal note Michael Jackson did not want to look black he did not like the colour of his skin or the nose that he was born with,and i am saying this with love, if more people that were close to him who are now saying how much they love him had said that to him to his face,maybe he would be alive today,if i am your friend i am entitled to tell you the truth as i see it.
Bob Marley was half black and he use to put black shoes polish in his hair to make it more black,his wife is very black,but he love everyone his half white child looks mix,unlike Michael Jackson,who made sure his kids look 100% caucasian just the was he wish he was born.
Michael Jackson was a genius with a troubled soul he loved and wanted to heal the world but in the end he was never happy with the man in the mirror.
Bob Marley was a genius he was the voice of the troubled soul,he was asked by record producers to cut his hair and shave his face to look more like main stream,and to appeal to a larger audience,he said no, it's not about how i look it's the music,the music will speak for itself.

not all the way--they were both genius in their own way--and visionaries--bob marley never dance and make spectacular videos-----but he wrote songs about the common mans everyday struggle--and another thing that make them so different

To me this is just rubbish. None of them wanted to be something else then what they was. Just because some say something even people who were close to them says saomething doesn´t mean it is so.. Sorry but we can only hear and see what we want to and what can fit in our own illusion. These people are what humanity is about and nothing else matters really. To compare these two is impossible. It can´t be done. The only thing those two had in common was what humanity is about. Enough said. Don´t waste your time with this foolishness. I would say I´m Bob Marley and Michael Jackson´s biggest fan but It doesn´t make me that and alot of my friends and family would tell you the same thing but it woulnd´t make me that either. Is it even possible to be the biggest something, really.....
They both are legend from different background. Michael was a true entertainer , performer the world has ever seen, when you listen to michael songs, they are still fresh like it was recorded yesterday, he was just a pop star but did a variety of songs, thats what a true entertainer is all about. Bob marley has its own thing going, with the reggae but in all michael is a true performer, his colour and his looks has nothing to do with him being one of the worlds greatest performer, he was a child prodigy, music has been his life, and all his emotions in his music wasnt fake, michael song is a kind of song, i can listen to and my grandmum can listen to and be both mesmerised. To even compare Micheal Jackson to Bob Marley is a probably the joke of the century. Micheal can't even moom-walk in Bob's shadow. Lets remember a few things. If were not for Joe Jackson's pushing Micheal, we would not have heard of him. Secondly, no country on Earth have a Micheal Jackson day. Niether was Micheal given a title by any country ie. Sir or Honorary. Thirdly, let's remember, Rolling Stone didn't vote "Triller album of the century, it was "Exodus." So, let's reset the conversation..... and come with your facts.

Bob came for a different purpose...Mike for a different purpose,mike was larger financially,ie material wise but Bob was larger morally.
Mike is a super star...king of pop
Bob is a mega star...prince of peace
Their achievements has nothing to do with USA and Ghetto cos what will be will be,you can ride a zion train to freedom and as well fly the air force one to success.
